It all began in 1989 when I was looking for a vehicle to race. I was at the time racing a 1986 Fiero V6 with nitrous and it ran well (14.50 ets). But it was my daily driver and I didn't want to ruin it. I started looking in the paper for a Pontiac Firebird with a 350 engine and found one advertised in Alexandria Va. So I took the 2 hour drive to look at it and when I got there it was a piece of crap. I didn't want to waste this trip so I looked in the paper for anything else for sale in the area. I noticed a 1970 Torino with a 429 for sale. It was about 20 minutes from where I was located, so I went to look at it. When I got there the guy who owned it pulled it out of the garage and took me for a ride. I was hooked! I gave the guy 1500.00 for the car and an extra 100.00 if he would take it to my house which he did. I began fixing the car up with headers, new intake and all the bolt-ons I could afford. I finally got it painted and began racing it on a weekly basis. I really wanted to name the car but I felt it should be running in the 12's before I gave it any lettering. Once I began running in the 12's we started thinking of names. I was sitting watching a special on Television about Dinosaurs one night when I thought hey the Torino is old and so are Dinosaurs. That's when Torinosaurus was born. As time went by I wanted to go faster and I began sinking money into the Torino. I realized it would be better to have a lighter car. So I sold the Torino and bought a tube chassis 86' Mustang. Using the same motor from the Torino it put me in the nine's. But I missed the old Torinosaurus. So I looked for another Torino but I wanted something different. Then I found it! A 1972 Gran Torino Wagon with an original 429! Nobody was running this type of car so I knew I would be different. I had another mild 460 to put in the car when I got it home. At first I ran some Saturday night street races. The car ran high 13 seconds ETs and I won 2 races. But I kept on racing the Mustang on a weekly basis. After a while I got tired of the electronics, fire suits, etc. and decided to go back to basics. I sold the Mustang and started to build up the wagon. Which takes us to now. To see a pictorial history of Torinosaurus go to the Gallery section of this web site.
